Clubs

Art Club meets during the second semester and is open to all BCMS students. It is a fun & free opportunity to participate in hands-on arts. Perfect fit for those who love art but can't fit a class into their schedule! Enrollment will be limited to the first 30 students that turn in their forms to the art teacher.

BCMS Drama Club is open to all 6th,7th and 8th graders. The club introduces students to the many aspects of theater both on stage and behind the scenes. Students experience the audition process, producing a show, and performing. The culmination of our club is a stage production where our students perform for parents, staff and the community. There will be posters and announcements indicating when our meetings will take place. Once our season is underway, a formal schedule will be sent home with students. Lights, camera, action!

H.O.P.E. (Helping others in Physical Education) is a cost-free before school program that strives to enhance coordination, agility, and all around physical skills through teamwork, partnering, and leadership. H.O.P.E uses the partnership of students  helping students through guidance of extended physical education instruction. Students will on occasion walk to Seth Whitman to work with the elementary students. H.O.P.E meets at BCMS every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month from 7:30-8:30.

NJHS is:

• A national recognition program established in 1929 by NASSP and currently found in public and private schools in every state as well as in schools in more than 70 countries overseas.
• A co-curricular activity that actively supports the educational goals of our school.
• An opportunity to involve chapter members in significant learning experience, especially in the area of service.
• Inclusive-open to all students who choose to apply themselves and consequently meet the five established criteria of scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship and character.

Peer Support is an ongoing program in which students are trained to help other students in several different areas:

• Peer Role Models

• New Students /Peer Buddies

• Anti-Bullying Promotion

• Promoting Respect for all students

BCMS is offering an after -school Robotics Club again this year. The club meets on Wednesday afternoons from 3:15 pm-4:00 pm in room B111(meetings are not held on early release Wednesdays). Students will work in teams to problem solve challenges given to them by using VEX Robotic Parts and RobotC software. The club starts up in mid to late September, and is open to all 6th, 7th & 8th grade students seeking additional time building and programming robots.

Are you ready to flex your mental muscle? Scholastic Bowl is the BCMS version of Stateline Quiz Bowl (WTVO and Fox39). Our 2 teams of students go head-to-head with the other NCJC Conference teams. Teams are asked a variety of questions from all subject areas and points are scored for correct answers. Some students help the team with spanning across all content areas while others specialize in depth in a specific subject such as math,language arts, or social studies. Our competition season runs from early February to early March and ends with a Saturday NCJC tournament.

This club is open to all 6th,7th, and 8th grade students. Students are elected as representatives from home base classes. It is an honor and  a privilege to participate in the Student Council. Student Council members need to be positive role models and willing to help their school and community in many ways. Student Council elections are held in September.

CMS Video club offers a chance for students that are interested in making videos, editing, writing scripts, acting, or any other part of videography/filmography. Students can create “Green Screen Movies, News casts or short films. Video club meets Wednesdays in room E109.

This club is open to all 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. Yearbook will meet after school until 4:00pm. Information will be posted as needed. Please stay tuned for more information.
